"It is never too late to be what you might have been."
This was one of Abigail Eliot’s favorite quotes. I can relate to this quote because I am a non-traditional student and this quote hits home with me. I know it’s never too late to be what you wished you had been or be the best you can at any point in your life.
Sandy Escobido also had an opportunity to work as an early childhood advocate. She stated
"We in the early childhood profession have an opportunity to shape a child’s life for the better".
”(Escobido 2010).
These two ladies were from different time periods, but ultimately had the same passion. That was to provide early childhood educational opportunities for everyone.

Hi Kristi- The quote "It's never too late to be what you might have been"-George Eliot really hit home with me as well. After 14 years of teaching I walked away from my career to begin a career in real estate. For the first time in my life I was making "good money". It felt nice to get compensated for the the hard work I was doing. However, as life has a way of changing so did the real estate market and my lucrative salary quickly grew smaller. My husband kept insisting through it all that my "true-calling" was with children. Now in my mid-forties I realize how full-filling it was to work with children and that I really want to go back to that. Yes, working conditions greatly need to be improved, especially the salaries for early childcare professionals. However, there is nothing more satisfying than to know you have made a difference in a young child's life. So, like you I am a mature adult making my way back "to what I might have been". When I'm old and gray (well have some gray now- ha, but you know what I mean...),I don't want to have any regrets.
I really like that quote by George Eliot because it reflect my current career status. This year I decided to change switch career paths and it has been a little scary to switch to something I really do not have much experience in but I am so passionate about it; that is why I know it is right. It is not too late.
